PAC WINTER CARNIVAL FUND RAISER
Our class has selected the APPLE ENTERTAINMENT PACKAGE as our classroom fundraiser for the Winter Carnival.  If you are able to support the building of this basket with a cash contribution, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.   

These baskets are always spectacular and will be on display for you to view prior to the carnival.  The PAC and staff are very appreciative of the McGowan community for their on-going generosity and support.

RCMP PRESENTATION
Today students participated in a presentation by the RCMP on safety led by Constable MacKenzie.  Please ask you child what was memorable to them!
 -Touch Points Included:
Knowing who a stranger is.
Know what to do to avoid strangers
Having plans.
-Family Homework:
1.  Having a secret family 'safe' word
2.  Knowing stranger danger alert statement:  "Get away, STRANGER!"
3.  Knowing or writing our parent's cell phone number in our shoe, or putting under the strap of our flip-flop
4.  Knowing not to take anything from a stranger.
5.  Using the buddy system - never play alone.
6.  Having a plan and sticking to it for play - including:

How Was Your Day?
Many times we ask our children that question to receive the answer. "Fine." or "Good."  As part of our Social Studies and Health and Career Education lessons, our class is focusing on the skill development in Social Responsibility.   On the top corner of the daily entry of your child's agenda a traffic light.

The traffic light matches the colours that we use to support students improving their understanding of what it takes and the student's ability to be self disciplined.   As a class we will endeavour to have each child circle the light that best reflects their behaviour of the day.  I hope that this exercise will assist your child in becoming more independent in their ability to understand and develop Social Responsibility practices.
