CLASS NEWSLETTER
It is hard to believe that September is almost completed!  We have been working hard to build class routines and expectations for the past four weeks.

Today your child will be bringing home a lengthy class newsletter.  This newsletter is to help you to understand our class's routines and expectations. As much as possible, I try to stick to familiar routines, however, there will be times where routines simply change.

As we enter October, I encourage families to support their child in building independence.  Maria Montessori stated it best:
The greatest sign of success for a teacher... is to be able to say, 'The children are
now working as if I did not exist.’  Never help a child with a task at which he feels
      he can succeed.
Simple tasks such as assisting with packing lunches, putting items into backpacks and ensuring items for the back and forth bag should be part of your child's daily routine.  Don't worry if the job isn't perfect, it's a wonderful learning opportunity!

Students are encourage to enter and leave the school unassisted, so that they can independently unpack and prepare for the day. This is the beginning of learning how to organize items as well as time.  These small steps are the building blocks of future success!  I appreciate your support in getting your child started, and look forward to assisting them through the school year.

Reminders:
Friday, Sept. 30 - TERRY FOX RUN - 9:15 am all welcome ;-)

Let's have a great week.  See you tomorrow!
