X COUNTRY RUN OPPORTUNITY
Both Grade 3 & 4 students are eligible to participate in up-coming x-country runs.  These runs usually take place outside of regular class time.  Students are asked to sign-up on the bulletin board by the library.  Further information/permission slips to come for participants.

The first run is September 19 -  OLPH run  at McArthur Island.
The second run is the Billy Goat Run on September 21 at Dufferin.

GRADE 4 PARENT MEETING
We would like to invite the Grade 4 parents to a Grade 4 meeting next Wednesday, September 19 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm.  This meeting is to help inform parents of changes from the primary to intermediate program.  We hope that you will be able to make it.

Homework
It is my beleif that if students are working hard and using their time wisely they deserve to complete their 'working day' at school.  Therefore, I usually do not 'assign' additional 'homework'.  Students will be expected to do nightly home reading, review math skills practise (fact families) and Spelling lists.  Additional review work may also include review for Quizzes or Tests.

Home Reading
Students are requested to read nightly with an adult.  Although your child is an independent reader, a major focus of the Grade 3/4 program is to improve comprehension.  Reading aloud with your child provides excellent modelling of reading as well as comprehension when you summarize key ideas.  Listening to your child allows you to hear your child, assisting where needed.

Can You Help?
1. Cold & Flu Season: Could you donate a box of kleenex for classroom use?
2. Framing Talent? Do you know how to frame art work?  Would you be willing to help our class?  If so, could you please see Ms. Pawliuk
