WHAT ARE WE LEARNING?
Students have been working hard!  Some focus areas that we have been working on and will continue to work on in Core Learning areas include:
Reading:
-3 ways to read a book
-picking 'just right' books
-building reading stamina
-identifying genre:  non-fiction (fact/information books) vs fiction (stories)
- reading for comprehension (understanding and being able to summarize what we have read = retelling)
-text features:  author, illustrator, publication date, table of content & glossaries (non-fiction)
Writing:
-Proper Nouns - specific people, places, and things - please encourage your child to always use a capital for their first and last name
-Ideas - being able to pick and develop a narrow topic (one idea)
-Super Sentences - using adjectives to describe nouns and prepositional phrases - sentences tell: who, did what, where and when
Math:
-Counting On Strategies focusing on numbers 0-100 -  adding strategy
